This rate comparison is based on NAP's current Initial Fixed Rate Term and National Grid's proposed standard offer rate and proposed renewable energy standard charge, effective from 4/1/2015 through 12/31/2015. Savings do not apply to utility delivery charges, taxes and are subject to change. Customers should contact National Grid to determine the amount of the applicable billing adjustment associated with their rate codes when switching from Standard Offer Services to receiving Generation Services from a Non-Regulated Power Producer. This promotional offer ONLY applies to customers who receive residential delivery service from National Grid and sign up before 1/31/2016. This offer expires on 1/31/2016. Comparisons are based on NAP's understanding of the EDC's price to compare and renewable energy standard charge as understood on 4/1/2015 (via www.ripuc.org/utilityinfo/electric/narrelecschedule2.html) with rounding and only concerns the electric commodity price per kWh. Q. How could North American Power offer competitive rates on my electricity?
A. When your state deregulated its energy market, it opened the industry to competition so that homeowners and businesses could shop for the best value. This has allowed companies like North American Power to buy energy in the wholesale markets and have control over the rates we can offer customers. Our electricity flows into the Local Power Pool and is delivered to your home or business by your local utility via existing power lines just as it always has. The only difference will be a new electric rate on the supply portion of your bill.
Q. When will my new North American Power supply rate officially take effect?
A. Depending on your utility and meter read date, it may take 1-2 billing cycles before you see North American Power's name and rate on your electricity bill. To avoid delays, please make sure you accurately enter all of your customer information while enrolling.
Q. Will there be any additional adjustments to my bill upon switching to North American Power?
A. National Grid customers in a Residential Group and Commercial Group billed under a Fixed Price Option that leaves Standard Offer Service and enrolls with a Non-Regulated Power Producer are subject to a one-time billing adjustment for the time they were billed under the Standard Offer Service rate during the current pricing period. Q. So my local utility will still service my account?
A. Yes. You are still a customer of your local utility. They will continue to provide the electricity, billing, and repairs.
Q. Will my electricity be interrupted when I change my utility's supply to yours?
A. Nope. You'll never see a flicker. The transition is seamless. All you'll notice is your new electric rate. It's that easy.
Q. Will I have to get a new meter or any new equipment?
A. No. You keep your meter and your local utility will still read it just as it always has.
Q. Who do I pay?
A. Your current utility. They will still send you just one bill and you will continue to make the payment to them. Nothing changes except that North American Power will be listed on your bill as your electric supplier and the supply rate will be North American Power's rate. If you wish to change your current payment method, you can do so through the utility.
